One of our most requested cocktails is the margarita. Mixologists worldwide have experimented with many delightful adaptations of this popular drink and there is now an abundance of flavours to choose from. Cocktail historian David Wondrich believed that the margarita evolved from a popular Mexican and American drink called the Daisy (margarita is Spanish for daisy) using tequila instead of brandy. He claims that the drink became popular during the prohibition era as people drifted over the border for alcohol. Today, the drink remains a firm favourite with our customers. So, here at Southside Bars, we have collated the data and discovered the most requested margaritas from past attendees of our online cocktail masterclass.
Which one is your favourite?
1. The Rosemary Margarita
The rosemary margarita is aromatic and fragrant and should be in everyone’s cocktail repertoire. Rosemary has many health benefits as it is a rich source of antioxidants. It also apparently improves memory as it is considered a cognitive stimulant. Although it probably isn’t wise to drink too many of these as it may cancel out any of those benefits, if you know what I mean.
2. The Pineapple Margarita
The cocktail that is sure to create the most merriment on the list is the pineapple margarita. These cocktails are a really fun twist on the classic and perfect for anytime of year, from New Years Eve to birthdays. There is something about pineapples that always puts people in a fantastic mood. Pineapples = Joy.
3. Strawberry and Kiwi Margarita
With the use of lots of fresh fruit, this margarita is the perfect mix of sweet and sour. We love to serve these in a martini glass ideally on a hot and sunny summer afternoon. Dangerously delicious, they come in as the number one most requested type of margarita in the online masterclasses.
4. The Jalapeño Margarita
This fiery number is for the bold and the brave as the taste is spicy and tart. It’s a great one for getting the weekend started early and always a real talking point during our classes. The jalapeños add that extra kick and it comes served with plenty of lime juice.
5. The Watermelon Margarita
Watermelon margaritas are incredibly refreshing and a great skinny cocktail. That signature pink hue of the watermelon is a real crowd pleaser in terms of presentation and they look amazing on camera. A virgin version can be made by replacing the tequila with apple juice.
If you booked an online cocktail masterclass, would one of these margarita’s make it onto your list?
